2012 AAA All-Star Game
The 2012 AAA All-Star Game was played on July 11, 2012 in Buffalo, NY. The event was hosted by the Buffalo Bisons, the AAA affiliate of the New York Mets.
The home team International League was managed by Mike Sarbaugh of the Columbus Clippers for the second straight year with Ryne Sandberg from the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and Arnie Beyeler from the Pawtucket Red Sox serving as his coaches. The Pacific Coast League was managed by Marty Brown of the Las Vegas 51s. His coaches were Russ Morman of the Fresno Grizzlies and Blaise Ilsley of the Memphis Redbirds. The game was broadcast on the MLB Network with Paul Severino, Jonathan Mayo and Sam Ryan calling the action.
The Pacific Coast League ended a 3-year losing skid as 11 pitchers combined on a shutout, with Graham Godfrey getting the win and Jonathan Albaladejo the save. The PCL offense did all the necessary damage in the first off Tyler Cloyd, who came in 8-1 with a 2.01 ERA. Teammates Adam Eaton and Jake Elmore opened with back-to-back singles. After an out, Mike Hessman (starting his third AAA All-Star Game) hit a sacrifice fly. After a walk, Wil Myers (fresh off a fine outing in the 2012 Futures Game) singled in Elmore for a 2-0 lead. The game's only other run came in the 4th, when the PCL scored off former NL All-Star Zach Duke, on a leadoff double by Myers and a two-out double by Tim Federowicz. Myers and the IL's Leslie Anderson were the only players to get multiple hits.
The "Top Stars" awards were given to the team MVPs from each league. Myers won the Award for the PCL (2 for 3, 2B, BB, R) and Matt Harvey (2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K) for the IL.
