2010 AAA All-Star Game
The 2010 AAA All-Star Game was played on July 14, 2010 in Allentown, PA. The event was hosted by the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the AAA affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.
The International League served as the home team. The IL All-Stars were managed by Charlie Montoyo of the Durham Bulls. His assistants were Dave Huppert of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and Frank Kremblas of the Indianapolis Indians. The Pacific Coast League team was managed by Daren Brown of the Tacoma Rainiers. Erik Bennett of the Salt Lake Bees and Mark Budaska of the Memphis Redbirds served as his coaches. The game was broadcast on the MLB Network with Matt Provence and Mitch Williams calling the game.
In a low scoring contest the PCL got on the board first with a Darwin Barney RBI single in the second. The PCL would hold on to this one run margin up to the bottom of the sixth when the IL picked up two run on back to back doubles by Chris Valaika and Chase Lambin and a single by Elliot Johnson. Both bullpens shut the game down from there, as the IL picked up the 2-1 victory. The two staffs combined for 16 strikeouts. Anthony Slama of the Rochester Red Wings got the win., the loss was given to Josh Banks of the Round Rock Express and the save to Jonathan Albaladejo of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees.
The Top Stars Awards were given to the game MVP from each team. The International League award went to Chase Lambin of the Syracuse Chiefs who went 1-3 with a RBI and a run scored. Thomas Diamond of the Iowa Cubs won the award for the PCL pitching 2 innings of no hit ball and picking up 2 strikeouts.
