Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Bubba Bell was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 42nd round of the 2005 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Danny Watkins and made his pro debut that summer with the GCL Red Sox, hitting .317 with 2 home runs and 27 RBIs in 43 games. He played for three clubs in 2006 (the Greenville Drive, the Lowell Spinners, and the Wilmington Blue Rocks) and hit .290 with 6 homers and 50 RBIs between the three stops.

Bell began 2007 with the Lancaster JetHawks and hit .370 with 22 home runs and 83 RBIs in just 76 games en route to being named the California League MVP. In early July, he was promoted to the Portland Sea Dogs, and he hit .265 with 4 homers and 22 RBIs in 34 games there.
