Pre Season[edit]
Paul Shuey was the 2011 inductee into the Kinston Professional Baseball Hall of Fame. He was inducted during the team's Hot Stove Banquet in March. Shuey was a member of the 1993 and 1994 Kinston Indians.
The Indians announced that the franchise was sold to a new ownership group that would be moving the team to Zebulon, NC in 2012. The team will still be the Carolina League advanced-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, but it will be known as the Carolina Mudcats.
General Manager Shari Massengill left for a job with the Gwinnett Braves and assistant GM Janell Bullock went to the Nashville Sounds. From 2007 to 2010, the K-Tribe was the only professional baseball team in America with an all-female front office. Benjamin Jones was hired as the new GM.
Regular Season[edit]
Post Season[edit]
Marketing and Media[edit]
The team rolled out a new set of merchandise and uniform logos for the 2011 season (see gallery below). The Native American mascot Tom E. Hawk who was introduced in 1997, was not included in any of the new designs.
The team got some national exposure when Grainger Stadium was featured in Baseball America's 2011 Great Parks Calendar as the park for the month of August.
