Biographical Information[edit]

Mike Rayl was a minor league pitcher.

Rayl was taken by the Washington Nationals in the 41st round of the 2008 amateur draft. He did not sign, then was chosen by the Cleveland Indians in the 15th round of the 2009 amateur draft. The scout was Mike Soper. He made his pro debut with the AZL Indians, going 1-2 with a 3.74 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 33 2/3 IP. In 2010, he pitched for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (2-4, 2.81, opponent batting line of .234/.305/.307) and the Lake County Captains (4 R, 5 H, 4 BB in 3 1/3 IP). He was 7th in the New York-Penn League in ERA, between Wilmer Almonte and Scott Copeland.

Rayl was sharp for the Lake County Captains to begin the next year (5-5, 2.83, .216/.251/.305 batting line against in 17 starts) but fell to 1-3, 4.61 with a .293/.346/.463 batting line in 8 starts for the 2011 Kinston Indians. He opened 2012 with the Carolina Mudcats but was only 4-7 with a 4.60 ERA after his first 14 starts, but improved to 10-10, 4.49 overall. He pitched in the Indians system through 2015, his final pro season.
