Biographical Information[edit]

Chase Burnette began his minor league career in 2010.

Burnette set his high school's records for career average (.498), hits, RBI and doubles and single-season average (.534), hits (55) and RBI (50). He was all-county in baseball, all-area in basketball and team captain in football. As a college freshman, he hit .244/.346/.356 as a bench player. In 2009, the sophomore produced at a .351/.447/.697 rate with 8 homers in 97 AB while mostly playing DH. Only Luke Murton had a better OPS for Georgia Tech that year. Becoming a starter in the outfield in 2010, he put up a .356/.404/.668 line with 61 runs, 17 home runs and 66 RBI in 62 games.

The Cleveland Indians took Burnette in the 18th round of the 2010 amateur draft; Brad Tyler was the scout. He split 2010 between the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (.274/.312/.456, 8 HR in 64 G) and the Lake County Captains (5 for 27, 2 2B, HR, BB, 9 K). He tied for 10th in the New York-Penn League in home runs. He was assigned to the 2011 Kinston Indians. He played just one more year, 2011, before wrapping up his professional career.
