Biographical Information[edit]
Rob Bryson was a 31st round draft-and-follow pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2006 amateur draft. After a year of junior college, he was signed by scout Charlie Aliano for $300,000 and debuted as a pro with the 2007 Helena Brewers, going 3-0 with 8 saves and a 2.67 ERA. He whiffed 70 and walked just 12 in 54 innings. He tied for third in the Pioneer League in saves and tied for 4th in strikeouts. Baseball America rated him as the loop's #8 prospect.
Bryson began 2008 with the West Virginia Power and went 3-2 with 5 saves and a 4.25 ERA in 22 outings, striking out 73 in 55 innings and holding opponents to a .209 average. He was then dealt with Matt LaPorta, Zach Jackson and a player to be named later to the Cleveland Indians for 2007 AL Cy Young winner C.C. Sabathia.
