Biographical Information[edit]

Clayton Cook pitched professionally from 2008 to 2012 and from 2014 to 2018.

Cook went 12-3 with 170 K in 98 innings and a 1.98 ERA as a high school senior. He had a commitment to the University of Oklahoma but went to the Cleveland Indians in the 9th round of the 2008 amateur draft and signed for around $100,000. The scout was Kevin Cullen. Debuting with the GCL Indians, he was 1-2 with a 2.52 ERA in 2008, striking out 26 in 25 innings. In 2009, he had a 5-3, 2.79 record for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. He just missed the New York-Penn League's top ten in ERA (by .03).

Clayton fell to 6-7, 3.35 with the Lake County Captains in 2010, his first summer in a full-season league. He did finish 8th in the Midwest League in ERA, between Matt Magill and Jake Odorizzi.
