West Texas-New Mexico League
The West Texas-New Mexico League ran from 1937 through 1955 with a break from '43-'45 due to World War II. Beginning life as a class D league it retained that stature until 1946, when it was upgraded to a class C. It stayed that class until 1955 when it was upgraded to a class B league for its final season. None of the charter members from 1937 lasted past 1940, however from
1946-1954 there good stability for a league of this type, with 7 out of 8 franchises together for 9 years. Lubbock and Clovis existed for 15 of the league's 16 years, while Amarillo and Pampa made it for 14. In 1948 the high-offense league was witness to Bob Crues' Organized Baseball record of 254 RBI in a season. That year the league averaged 8.12 runs per game.
