Biographical Information[edit]
Eddie Bockman played parts of four big league seasons, seeing his most extensive action in his final two years as an irregular third baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates, having missed 1943 to most of 1946 due to military service during World War II. He went on to have a long career as a minor league manager and scout. Bockman managed the Albuquerque Dukes in 1955, the Visalia Cubs in 1956, and the Amarillo Gold Sox in 1957-1958. As a scout for the Philadelphia Phillies (1960-1991), he signed Bob Boone, Larry Bowa and Ricky Jordan among others.
Eddie's brother, Morley Bockman, played in the minor leagues from 1948 to 1951. He passed away on September 29, 2011 at the age of 91.
