Biographical Information

Gale Pringle had a 17 season minor league pitching career from 1944 to 1960. He spent some time in the farm systems of the New York Giants, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and Baltimore Orioles getting as high as triple-A on several occasions. He had a record of 160-157 with a known earned run average of 3.43 (some stats are not known for three of the seasons he pitched). He had his best seasons from 1952 to 1954 when he went 20-10, 17-10, and 21-9. While with the Tyler Tigers in 1954, he threw a perfect game against the Temple Eagles.

In 1944, Gale made some money on the side pitching for Cessna Aircraft's traveling semi-pro team. They stopped in Kansas City to play the Monarchs of the Negro Leagues. Satchel Paige threw a one-hit shutout, but Pringle no-hit the Monarchs and the game ended in a scoreless tie.

Pringle also managed for parts of two seasons. He was the skipper of the Tyler East Texans for part of 1951 and the Amarillo Gold Sox for part of 1958. Four of Gale's first five managers early in his career were Hall of Fame members: Gabby Hartnett, Casey Stengel, Burleigh Grimes, and Lefty Gomez.

Pringle took a job with the Ralph's Club supermarket chain in Los Angeles, CA and retired from there in 1984. He then retired to Amarillo, TX where he finished up his baseball career and became an avid golfer and bowler late in life.
