Team History[edit]

In 1974 the El Paso Sun Kings were renamed the El Paso Diablos. An affiliate of the California Angels for their first seven seasons, they switched to the Milwaukee Brewers in 1981, a relationship that lasted for 18 years. In 1999 they became the AA club for the Arizona Diamondbacks. After 2004 the team's 31-year presence in the Texas League ended as the team moved to Springfield, MO and became the Springfield Cardinals. In 2005 a team known as the El Paso Diablos began play in the independent Central Baseball League, and they joined the newly formed American Association the following season. The team folded after the 2013 season to make way for the AAA El Paso Chihuahuas.
