Biographical Information

Pitcher Rob Derksen played minor league baseball from 1982 to 1984 in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. He was picked by Milwaukee in the 16th round of the 1982 amateur draft.

He was 3-3 with one save and a 1.79 ERA for the 1982 Beloit Brewers. Had he qualified, he would have led the Midwest League in ERA. In 1983, he was 3-1 with two saves and a 3.42 ERA for the Stockton Ports. He split 1984 between Stockton (4-2, 4.42 in 29 games) and Beloit (1 save, 3.75 in 6 games)

Derksen was the pitching coach for the Beloit Brewers in 1985 and Stockton Ports in 1986-1989. He pitched for Stockton in 3 games in 1987, going 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA and in 4 games in 1989, posting a 1.23 ERA. He managed Beloit in 1990-1991 and moved to the El Paso Diablos as pitching coach from 1992 to 1995. Derksen managed the Sarasota Red Sox in 1997. He was the Australian coach at the 1996 Olympics and managed the Guam national team to a title in the 1999 Oceania Championship.

From 2001 to 2004, Derksen was an international scout for the Baltimore Orioles. He was recruiting players for the 2004 Greek national team when he passed away; he had previously managed for Greece in the 2003 European Championship when they won a Silver Medal.
