Biographical Information[edit]

Shortstop Bobby Dickerson was drafted in the 23rd round of the 1987 amateur draft by the New York Yankees and played seven seasons of minor league ball with the Yankees and Baltimore Orioles.

Dickerson was the Orioles minor league infield instructor from 1994 to 1997 while also managing the Bluefield Orioles in 1996-1997. He was the Arizona Diamondbacks infield instructor in 1998-1999. Dickerson managed the El Paso Diablos in 2000 before returning to the infield coordinator postition. From 2002 to 2005, Dickerson managed the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, then the Iowa Cubs in 2006, both in the Chicago Cubs chain. In 2006-2008, Dickerson was the Cubs' Infield/Bunting Coordinator.

Dickerson had been serving as the Baltimore Orioles' Minor League Infield Coordinator/Latin America Field Coordinator in 2010, when he was named interim manager of the Norfolk Tides after manager Gary Allenson was promoted to a coaching position on the big league club. He returned to the position of infield coordinator in 2011 and 2012. In 2013, he became the Orioles' third base coach, staying until the end of the 2018 season. In 2019, he joined the Philadelphia Phillies as infield coach, then in 2020 was named bench coach of the San Diego Padres under new manager Jayce Tingler, staying until the end of the 2021 season. In 2022, he began a second stint as the Phillies' infield coach.
