Biographical Information[edit]
The brother of third baseman Sal Bando and uncle of Sal Bando Jr., Chris Bando spent most of his playing career as the Cleveland Indians backup catcher. He was signed as a 2nd round pick in the 1978 amateur draft by the Indians and scout Danny Carnevale. Chris' sons, Ben, Michael and Phil also played minor league ball.
Chris was later a Milwaukee Brewers coach from 1996 to 1998, while his brother was the team's General Manager. Bando was a Brewer scout in 1999 and was the Director of Coaching, Player Development, & Manager of the International Baseball League of Australia in 2000. He was the hitting coach for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in 2003 and an advance scout for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2005. In 2009, Bando was an assistant coach at The Master's College. He became the head coach of San Diego Christian College in 2010.
