Biographical Information[edit]

The son of big leaguer Chris Bando, infielder Phil Bando was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 45th round of the 2009 amateur draft after hitting .350 in two years of junior college. He briefly played in their organization that summer, hitting .238 in 8 games (5 for 21, all singles, 4 runs, 3 RBI, one walk, 6 strikeouts) for the AZL Angels. He fielded .889 with 3 errors at second base.

In addition to his father, Bando is the nephew of big leaguer Sal Bando. He is also the brother of minor leaguers Ben Bando and Michael Bando and the cousin of Sal Bando Jr.

Phil served as an assistant coach under his father at San Diego Christian College.
