All-Star Game[edit]

The NPB All-Star Game featured three games and was a tie one game to one with one tie game. The first game was played at Korakuen Baseball Stadium and was won by the PL, 7 - 2. The second game was played at Seibu Lions Baseball Stadium and was a tie, 5 - 5. The third game was played at Osaka Baseball Stadium and was won by the CL, 3 - 2.

In the playoffs, the Seibu Lions, winners of the first-half, defeated the second-half winners, the Nippon Ham Fighters, 3 games to 1.

In the Nippon Series, the Seibu Lions (PL) defeated the Chunichi Dragons (CL), 4 games to 2. The winning manager was Tatsuro Hirooka and the series MVP was Osamu Higashio.

Award Winners[edit]

The winner of the 1982 Sawamura Award was Manabu Kitabeppu of the Hiroshima Toyo Carp. He had a 20 - 8 win-loss record, 184 strikeouts, and a 2.43 ERA in 267.1 innings.

High School Baseball[edit]

The 64th National High School Baseball Championship featured a total of 3466 schools competing for 49 spots in the finals at Koshien. In the championship game Ikeda High School (Tokushima) defeated Hiroshima Shogyo High School (Hiroshima) by a score of 12 - 2.

The 54th National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament featured 30 schools competing in the tournament at Koshien. In the championship game PL Gakuen High School (Osaka) defeated Nishogakusha High School (Tokyo) by a score of 15 - 2.

University Baseball[edit]

All-Japan University Baseball Championship Series[edit]

The 1982 All-Japan University Baseball Championship Series featured 15 schools competing in the tournament at Meiji-Jingu Stadium. In the championship game Hosei University defeated Toyo University by a score of 3 - 2.

Meiji Jingu Baseball Convention[edit]

In the Meiji Jingu Baseball Convention Tokai University defeated Osaka University of Commerce.

International Baseball[edit]

In the second World Junior Championship AAA in the United States, the Japanese national baseball team won a silver medal. At the twelfth Haarlemse Honkbalweek in Haarlem, the Netherlands, a Japanese team, Mitsubishi Japan, placed fourth. At the twenty-seventh Baseball World Cup in South Korea, the Japanese national baseball team won a silver medal.
