Lewis-Clark State College was known as Lewis-Clark Normal School until 1971.

6 of the 10 major leaguers from Lewis-Clark (through 2005) were drafted or signed by the San Francisco Giants. The college is named both for explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, and for the twin towns of Lewiston, ID and Clarkston, WA.
