Biographical Information

Gunnar Buhner played college ball at Abilene Christian University and Lewis-Clark State College. After completing his college career he joined the Philadelphia Phillies organization and played for the GCL Phillies in 2017. Buhner spent the next four years (not counting 2020) playing for four different teams in four different independent leagues. He concluded his playing career in 2022.

Buhner started his coaching career before completing his playing career. He was an assistant coach for the Bracken Christian School Warriors in 2021 where Cooper Goldby was the head coach. The two coaches had played together at Lewis-Clark in 2016-2017.

In 2023 the Oakland Athletics hired Buhner as a hitting coach for the DSL Athletics.

Gunnar is the son of former major leaguer Jay Buhner.
