Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Steve Reed was signed as an undrafted free agent by scout Jack Uhey for the San Francisco Giants in 1988. He pitched 14 seasons in the majors, for a total of 833 games, all of them in relief.

He was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 1992 expansion draft and went on to pitch five seasons with the new team, from 1993 to 1997, and again in 2003 and 2004. His 461 games pitched for the Rockies remains the highest total in franchise history, ahead of Brian Fuentes who pitched in 428 games. He led the National League in games pitched in 1994 with 61 in what was a strike-shortened season.
