Biographical Information[edit]

Chuck LaMar began scouting with the Cincinnati Reds in 1986. He was the Pittsburgh Pirates' farm director in 1989-1990 and the Atlanta Braves' director of player development from 1991 to 1995.

Chuck was General Manager of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays from 1995, shortly after the expansion club was founded, until 2005. He oversaw the teams Expansion Draft on November 18, 1997 and was praised for drafting much of the young talent that formed the core of the 2008 team that reached the World Series.

In 2008, LaMar was working for the Philadelphia Phillies as "Director, Professional Scouting". By 2011 he was "Assistant General Manager, Player Development & Scouting", but resigned in September of that year as a result of disagreements with GM Ruben Amaro. After the 2011 season, he was hired by the Toronto Blue Jays as a special assistant to General Manager Alex Anthopoulos, with an emphasis on amateur scouting.
