Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Geoff Blum became a hero to Chicagoans when he hit a solo home run in the 14th inning in Game 3 of the 2005 World Series to give the Chicago White Sox the win over the Houston Astros. He ultimately became the second player to hit a home run in the only World Series plate appearance of his career, after Jim Mason. In 14 seasons, Blum roamed all over the infield with six teams, batting .250 in 1,389 games. Counting the postseason home run, he accumulated 100 total, hitting 99 in the regular season with a personal best of 14 in 114 games as a member of the 2008 Houston Astros.

Since 2013, Blum has provided color commentary on Astro television broadcasts.
