Biographical Information[edit]
Bartolomé Fortunato was signed by scout Rudy Santin for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in August 1996. He spent 1997-1998 as an outfielder for the DSL Devil Rays. In 1999, Fortunato was 7-0 with a 2.57 ERA for the same club. He came stateside in 2000 with the Princeton Devil Rays. He made it to the majors with the Devil Rays in 2004, then shortly after his debut was traded to the New York Mets as part of the infamous Victor Zambrano for Scott Kazmir trade on July 30th. He made 15 appearances for the Mets that year, and another 2 in 2006.
After pitching for the Dominican national team in 2010-2011, he coached for them in the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games (when they won Bronze).
