History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 1997 Florida Marlins were coming off a 1996 season in which they had flirted with .500 for the first time in their history, finishing with a record of 80-82, in 3rd place in the National League East. In 1997, their manager was Jim Leyland and they played home games at Pro Player Stadium. They finished with a record of 92-70, winning the NL Wild Card. The team then pulled off one of the greatest upset in baseball history by getting through the National League playoffs and winning the World Series over the Cleveland Indians.
