The 30th National High School Baseball Championship featured a total of 1256 schools competing for 23 spots in the finals at Koshien. In the championship game Kokura High School (Fukuoka) defeated Wakayama Toin High School (Wakayama) by a score of 1 - 0.
The 20th National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament featured 16 schools competing in the tournament at Koshien. In the championship game Kyoto Daiichi Shogyo High School (Kyoto) defeated Kyoto Daini Shogyo High School (Kyoto) by a score of 1 - 1.
