Biographical Information

Tadayoshi Kajioka won over 100 games in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Kajioka was his team's cleanup hitter and ace pitcher in college. He made his pro debut with the 1947 Osaka Tigers, going 22-8 with a 1.92 ERA. He finished 6th in the Japanese Professional Baseball League in ERA behind Giichiro Shiragi, Sukehiro Hattori, Hideo Fujimoto, Takehiko Bessho and Rentaro Imanishi. In 1948, he had a 26-17, 2.54 record and was 10th in ERA. On August 28, he threw a no-hitter against the Nankai Hawks. Despite the no-hitter, he led the JPBL in hits allowed (325) as well as homers given up (20) and complete games (35).

The Osaka native fell to 13-10, 3.96 in 1949 and his record was 12-9, 3.57 in 1950. In 1951, the right-hander was 13-7 with a 3.43 ERA. He had a big year in 1952 at 21-8, 1.71. He won his 100th career game, made his only Central League All-Star team and led the CL in ERA (.23 over Takehiko Bessho, the runner-up). Bessho beat him out for Best Nine honors.

In 1953, Tadayoshi was 16-13 with a 3.01 ERA. His 19 homers allowed tied Hiroyoshi Takano for the league lead. He had a nearly identical ERA (8-11, 3.02) in 1954 then ended with a 0-2, 4.14 season in 1955.

Overall, Kajioka was 131-85 with a 2.80 ERA in 299 games in NPB.
