2023 Pan American Games Qualifying Tournament

The 2023 Pan American Games Qualifying Tournament was a qualifier for one spot in the 2023 Pan American Games; some of the teams had missed out in prior qualifiers but had another shot now. Hosted by  Argentina, top contenders were expected to be  Canada and  Panama; Panama won the title. Rounding out the field were  Peru and  Honduras ( Aruba was originally slated to be play but withdrew).

June 16

•  Canada 6,  Panama 5. Canada rallies from a 4-2 deficit in the 6th, 3B Matt Lloyd going 2 for 3 with a walk, two runs, two RBI and a homer, while RJ Freure escapes a bases-loaded jam to save Michael Brettell's win. Former big leaguer Davis Romero takes the loss, while veteran RF Luis Castillo has two runs for Panama.
•  Argentina 11,  Peru 4. The hosts start with an expected win as CF Sebastián García has two runs and two RBI, while Kevin Riello gets the win over Marco Castellano. Peru is led by the left side of their infield; SS Rider Zevallos has half their runs and 3B Jin Ishihara half their hits.

June 17

•  Peru 4,  Honduras 0. It is unclear if these countries had ever squared off before. Ken Ishihara throws a four-hitter to give Peru a win and RF Joaquín Vélez drives in a pair. Darlyn Rodriguez matches Ishihara with four shutout but Peru scores four in the 6th off Eduardo Diaz.
•  Argentina 8,  Canada 3. The hosts stun the two-time Pan American champs. Lucas Ramón and five relievers combine on a four-hitter, the win going to Lucas Rementería. The first eight batters in Argentina's lineup each score a run, with SS Agustín Tissera leading the team with three hits. CF Jacob Robson (1-for-2, BB, R, RBI) is a rare bright spot for the Canadian offense. Ryan Kellogg takes the loss.

June 18

•  Panama 9,  Peru 0. Panama gets back on track as Harold Araúz, Manuel Campos and Luis Ramos team up on a three-hitter, walking none, while C Adolfo Reina drives in three. Edgar Paredes gets the decision for Peru.
•  Argentina 4,  Honduras 2. The hosts survive a scare, falling behind 2-1 in the 5th before rallying to win. Miguel García saves Thomas Cuenca's win, CF Sebastián García scores twice and 3B Nicolás Alvarado drives in a pair. Mariano Gomez is given the defeat, while LF Moises Mena and C Walter Aguilar have the lone Honduran hits.

June 19

•  Canada 11,  Peru 1. RF Jake Sanford goes 4-for-4 while Canada also draws 11 walks in the romp. 39-year-old Karl Gélinas gets the win over Jorge Sivirichi. CF Giancarlo Kanashiro drives in SS Rider Zevallos with the lone Peruvian tally.
•  Panama 4,  Honduras 0. Luis Machuca, Carlos Rodriguez and Severino González throw Panama's second straight shutout, this one a four-hitter. 1B Erasmo Caballero goes 4 for 4. Juan Girón takes the loss.

June 20

•  Canada 10,  Honduras 0. Canada needed a win to keep their hopes of a finals spot alive and they cruised as expected in a five-inning mercy rule win. RF Jake Sanford drove in three, all nine Canadian starters scored and Travis Seabrooke fired a two-hitter. Guillermo Pineda was handed the defeat while 1B Allan Inestroza and PH José Francisco Cardona get the Honduran hits.
•  Panama 7,  Argentina 2. Panama tops the hosts to make a three-way tie at 3-1 atop the standings; the tiebreaker goes against Canada, meaning these teams will meet in the finale tomorrow. Luis Ramos allows three hits and no runs in five to beat Juan Borras. LF Edgar Muñoz goes 3 for 3 with a walk, two runs and two RBI to lead Panama. 1B Jacinto Cipriota doubles twice and plays a role in both Argentinian runs.

June 21

• Finals:  Panama 9,  Argentina 3. Just like yesterday, Panama rolls to victory, having won their last four contests after dropping their opener. Manuel Campos goes the distance to beat Lucas Ramón. LF Jose Mordock comes off the bench to drive in four as Panama uses a five-run fifth to pull away. 1B Jacinto Cipriota again leads Argentina's offense, scoring one and driving in another.
