Biographical Information[edit]

Carlos Rodriguez has pitched in the minors and for the Panamanian national team.

He was signed by the New York Yankees. In 2016, he was 0-2 with 22 hits and 16 runs (11 earned) in 11 innings for the DSL Yankees 2 in a rough pro debut. In 2017, he fared better with the DSL Yankees (2-2, Sv, 3.00 in 13 G; 9 BB in 63 IP) and GCL Yankees East (0 R in 2 IP). He split 2018 between the DSL Yankees (0-1, 8.44 in 1 G) and GCL Yankees West (4-3, 2.44). He was 5th in the Gulf Coast League in ERA, 3rd in WHIP (1.04, trailing Juan Then and Yasel Santana) and 2nd in opponent average (.210, .011 behind Angel De Jesus). [1]

Rodriguez slumped in 2019 with the GCL Yankees East (2 R in 1 IP) and Pulaski Yankees (0 R in 1 IP) while spending most of the year on the injured list. He did not pitch again in the Yankees chain before being released. He was with Panama for the 2021 U-23 Baseball World Cup, pitching 1 1/3 shutout innings. [2] In the 2023 Caribbean Series, he gave up four runs in two innings for the Federales de Chiriquí. Suiting up for Panama in the 2023 Pan American Games Qualification Tournament, he made one appearance for the team as they won a spot in the 2023 Pan American Games. Relieving Luis Machuca with a 4-0 lead over Honduras, he retired Maycol Cockborn and Kevin Reyes. He hit Alex Euceda but then whiffed Jorge Zavala. Severino González succeeded him. [3]
