2013 College World Series

The 2013 College World Series was played at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha, NE from June 15 to June 25. Eight teams qualified for the tournament by winning their Regional and Super-Regional Tournaments. UCLA defeated Mississippi State to win the championship.

The field was broken into two double elimination brackets of four team each.

	Game 2	Indiana	2-0	Louisville	Indiana made its College World Series debut in fine fashion, as Joey DeNato tosses a four-hitter and fans eight for the shutout victory. Cody Green takes the loss. Indiana is the first Big Ten team in the CWS since 1984.
June 16	Game 3	NC State	8-1	North Carolina	Carlos Rodon fans 8 in a complete game win over cross-state rival North Carolina.
	Game 4	UCLA	2-1	LSU	Adam Plutko combines with two relief pitchers on a five-hitter, while LSU's defensive miscues hurt them.
June 17	Game 5	Oregon State	11-4	Louisville	Oregon State scores 7 in the 4th in a must-win game, with 3 hits from Andy Peterson. Jeff Thompson is roughed up in the loss, while Ben Wetzler gets the win. Louisville eliminated
	Game 6	Mississippi State	5-4	Indiana	Mississippi State goes ahead in the 8th on a Trey Porter hit to move one win from a spot in the finals.
June 18	Game 7	North Carolina	4-2	LSU	Trent Thornton and Chris McCue combined to hold LSU to two runs in a must-win game, while Brian Holberton hits a crucial first-inning homer. LSU loads the bases in the 8th but McCue retires Mark Laird to end the rally. LSU eliminated
	Game 8	UCLA	2-1	NC State	Nick Vander Tuig tosses a strong effort and tags out a runner at home, while UCLA squeaks out two runs on two walks, two singles and a wild pitch in the 5th.
June 19	Game 9	Oregon State	1-0	Indiana	Matt Boyd fans 11 in a four-hitter to keep Oregon State alive. The game's lone run comes in the 4th on a Kavin Kayes single, a Ryan Barnes double and a sacrifice fly by Jake Rodriguez. Aaron Slegers takes the loss despite a one-run complete game effort. Indiana eliminated

June 21	Game 11	Mississippi State	4-1	Oregon State	Mississippi State goes to the finals of the College World Series for the first time, topping Oregon State for the second time this Series. Hunter Renfroe's 3-run homer is the big blow, making a loser of Andrew Moore (14-1 coming in). It was only the third home run of this Series. Kendall Graveman gets the win and Jonathan Holder sets a Mississippi State record with his 30th career save. Oregon State eliminated

June 24	Game 1	UCLA	3-1	Mississippi State	UCLA moves a win from a title. In the second, Kevin Kramer strikes out but reaches on a dropped strike three, then Eric Filia doubles and Pat Valaika singles for a 1-0 lead. They score twice in the 4th, with a two-run hit by Filia off Chad Girodo. The unearned runs are the only ones Girodo gives up in 7 1/3 innings of relief. In the bottom of the 4th, Adam Plutko allows his lone run. In the 9th, Mississippi State threatens against David Berg, with singles by C.T. Bradford and Sam Frost, but Berg gets Nick Ammirati and Jacob Robson to end it for his NCAA record 24th save. Plutko improves to 7-0, 0.94 in 8 NCAA tournament games during his career.
June 25	Game 2	UCLA	8-0	Mississippi State	UCLA won its first title in baseball and record 109th in NCAA team sports. Nick Vander Tuig allowed five hits and one walk in eight shutout innings for his 4th win of the NCAA Tournament, while David Berg gets the save. Eric Filia drove in five as the light-hitting UCLA offense has a big day. Luis Pollorena takes the loss. UCLA sets a CWS record for fewest runs by a champion since the field expanded to 8 teams in 1950. UCLA win CWS
