Biographical Information

Pitcher Nick Rumbelow made his major league debut during a particularly tough stretch for the New York Yankees' bullpen, as he was the fourth pitcher to make his debut out of the bullpen in three days. He came into a game against the Philadelphia Phillies in the 9th inning on June 23, 2015, after the usually unhittable Dellin Betances had allowed the Phillies two runs to take the lead; with two men on, he walked the first batter he faced, Domonic Brown, then allowed a bases-clearing triple to Andres Blanco to put the score completely out of reach at 11-6. On June 21st, Danny Burawa and Jose De Paula had made their debut in a 12-4 loss to the Detroit Tigers, and on the 22nd, it was Diego Moreno who had received his baptism of fire in an 11-8 loss to the Phils. Nick earned his first career win on August 18th when he relieved CC Sabathia to record the final out of the 7th inning with the Yankees trailing the Minnesota Twins, 4-1. He was the beneficiary of Alex Rodriguez's 25th career grand slam off J.R. Graham in the bottom of the inning, getting credit for the eventual 8-4 win. He went 1-1, 4.02 in 17 games for the Yanks that year.

On November 18, 2017, he was traded to the Seattle Mariners in return for 17-year-old pitching prospect Juan Then and P J.P. Sears. He shuttled regularly between the Mariners and AAA during the 2018 season, making 13 appearances at the major league level and going 0-0, 6.11. In 2019, he made the team's roster for their season-opening two-game series against the Oakland Athletics in Japan, but his first outing, in the first game on March 20th, was nightmarish. Replacing starter Marco Gonzales to start the 7th, he allowed three of the four batters he faced to reach base, including Matt Chapman who tagged him for a three-run homer.
