Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Fox was the All-Tournament second baseman of the 1978 College World Series. In 2006, he led his alma mater, the University of North Carolina, to the College World Series as head coach. The school returned from 2007-2010, becoming the first ACC school to appear 4 straight times. He took the school to the CWS a total of 7 times.
After graduating, Fox was a graduate assistant at UNC in 1979. He was then head coach of Millbrook High School in Raleigh, NC in 1980-1981, and at North Carolina Wesleyan College from 1983 to 1994 and 1996 to 1998, taking the school to nine Division III College World Series. He has been the coach at UNC since 1999. Fox retired after the 2020 season citing spending more time with his family during the COVID-19 pandemic as a reason to step away.
