The 1949 College World Series was played in Wichita, KS from June 22 to June 25. The participating schools qualified by winning one of eight district tournaments and four regional tournaments. The third tournament's champion was the University of Texas at Austin coached by Bibb Falk. The Most Outstanding Player was Tom Hamilton of the University of Texas at Austin.
