The University of Southern California hosted the most successful collegiate baseball program in the world. No other university is close to its 12 titles in the College World Series. However, success has been much more subdued since the start of the 21st century.

Over 100 players have come to the major leagues from USC, the first being Fay Thomas. Of those, 38 are position players who have had more than 1,000 at-bats, and ten are pitchers with over 1,000 innings. The most prominent players include Jim Barr, Johnny Berardino (who went on to have an acting career after his major league career), Aaron Boone, Bret Boone, Brad Boxberger, Bill Buckner, Don Buford, Steve Busby, Jeff Cirillo, Ron Fairly, Tom House, J.P.
