2000 Futures Game

From BR Bullpen

Played on July 9, 2000, the second Futures Game resulted in the USA team equalling the series at 1-1 in results. After rocky starts by both pitching staffs, things quieted down at Turner Field. In the 8th, the World threatened to score when LF Chin-Feng Chen tripled (his third hit of the game, to lead the world club) with one away. CF Luis Saturria hit a chopper to Sean Burroughs, who made a great play and threw home to Brandon Inge, who tagged Chen for the out. In the bottom of the inning, the US scored off of Carlos Hernandez to give them the winning edge. Burroughs went 3 for 4 with a run and was named the MVP, while teammate Josh Hamilton hit 3 for 4 while manning right field for the US club.
