Biographical Information

Aaron Myette pitched six seasons in the major leagues and eight in the minor leagues. His minor league record was 59-36.

Myette represented Canada at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. He was with Canada for the 1995 World Junior Championship, going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 16 innings, allowing 6 hits and 5 walks while striking out 14. In the 2006 Americas qualifier for the 2008 Olympics, Myette was 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA, walking six in four innings in a rout to Team USA.

In 1998, he fanned 13 batters and 15 batters in back to back starts for the Winston-Salem Warthogs. That year, he led the system in wins with 13 and ERA, at 2.33. In 1999, he finished third in wins in the Southern League with 12. That same year, he was 5th in strikeouts with 135 and 8th in ERA with 3.66. He was also 2nd among league starters in Opponents Average with .225.

He made back-to-back starts on September 3 and 4 in 2002. Those were the first back-to-back starts by a pitcher since Steve McCatty in 1980. He was ejected from the first game after facing only one batter, hence his ability to go at it the next day; in that first game, reliever Joaquin Benoit recorded the longest save in major league history, and he was an inning away from being part of a combined no-hitter.

His father, Ken Myette, played in the Cincinnati Reds farm system in 1969. His brother, Andrew Myette, was drafted three times, but never played professionally.
