Biographical Information[edit]

Travis Dawkins won an Olympic gold medal for the United States in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Dawkins was the starting shortstop for Team USA in the 1999 Pan American Games. He hit .273 for the tournament. In the semifinal game in which the US clinched a spot in the 2000 Olympics, Dawkins was removed in the 10th inning in favor of Mike Neill. Neill's single off Vicente Palacios scored Marcus Jensen with the run that earned the US a ticket to the Olympics.

In December 2009, Dawkins was suspended for 50 games for a second positive test for a drug of abuse.

Dawkins became a hitting coach with the AZL Reds in 2015, Daytona Tortugas in 2016, and Pensacola Blue Wahoos in 2017. After the 2017 season he also served as the hitting coach for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League. He moved into the manager's seat with the Greeneville Reds in 2018-2019. He was scheduled to manage the Dayton Dragons in 2020 before COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the minor league season. Dawkins managed the Daytona Tortugas in 2021-2022.
