Category:Bonus Babies
Bonus babies are amateur players given huge signing bonuses in order to become professionals; in the 1950s, as a result of the bonus rule then in force, these players had to stay on the major league roster for an extended period, during which many of them hardly played, before they could be sent to the minor leagues where they should have been all along.
