Biographical Information[edit]
Bonus baby Jim Pyburn also starred in football at Auburn University. After his brief baseball career, he returned to the gridiron as a high school coach and college assistant at the University of Georgia and Abilene Christian University. He was inducted in the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.
His son, Jeff Pyburn, was selected by the San Diego Padres in the first round of the 1980 amateur draft but never reached the majors.
Jim died in 2011 after a long illness.
