2023 East Asian Baseball Cup

The 2023 East Asian Baseball Cup was the fourth East Asian Baseball Cup and was held from April 29 to May 4 in Bangkok, Thailand. Two spots in the 2023 Asian Games and 2023 Asian Championship were at stake. Philippines had won the first three East Asian Cups, with host Thailand and Hong Kong each having medaled twice. Also competing were Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and Singapore
April 29[edit]
- Singapore 7, Cambodia 4. Ryota Wong fans 13 in 7 innings and Ting Chuan Oscar Tay drives in three. Lyhour Heng scores twice for Cambodia.
- Philippines 21, Malaysia 1. 3B Jennald Pareja drives in three while Junmar Diarao, Kobe Torres and Clarence Caasalan shut down Malaysia. The event's final report box score shows Malaysia with one hit, but none of the players as getting a hit.
- Hong Kong 15, Thailand 8. Cheuk-Kiu Chan (3 H, 3 R) and Chun-Yiu Ryan Cheung (3 H, 3 RBI) lead Hong Kong's offense. Sakai Phraechai has one run and two RBI for Thailand without getting a hit.
April 30[edit]
- Philippines 16, Cambodia 0. Vladi Eguia fans 8 in 3 innings then Raymond Nerosa and Juan Paulo Macasaet close out the five-inning mercy rule no-hitter win. Veteran Jon-Jon Robles is one of three Filipino batters to score three.
- Singapore 20, Malaysia 5. Azminin Mohamad Danis Mohamad (3 H, 3 RBI) and Jyoji Ito (3 H, 3 R) pace Singapore's hitters. Safar Mohammad Am Mat goes the distance for Malaysia.
- Hong Kong 18, Laos 0. Ho-Ki Bryan Tam has 3 hits and 4 RBI while Hong Kong's hurlers combine on a three-hitter.
May 1[edit]
- Cambodia 7, Malaysia 4. The two winless teams in the pool square off and Malaysia falls to 0-3. Phon Netra beats Abdulla Sani Muhammad Liqman H., both hurlers going the distance. Houn Vev has three hits for Cambodia.
- Philippines 20, Singapore 0. The two 2-0 teams in the pool face off and the favored Filipino team keeps dominating. Iggy Escano, Ferdinand Liguayan Jr. and Mark Manaig each have two hits, two runs and two RBI, while the three-hit pitching pitching is provided by Romeo Jasmin Jr., Carlos Muñoz, Renato Samuel Jr. and Kobe Torres.
- Thailand 10, Laos 0. The hosts finish round one unbeaten. Siraphop Nadee and Thanakarn Aeoseithim combine on a four-hitter while Chanatip Thongbai has three hits and three RBI. Chinu Va has two hits for Laos.
May 2[edit]
- Philippines 12, Thailand 4. The Philippines face their toughest battle but still cruise past the hosts. It is the first time they don't win by a mercy rule, but they still have all the runs they need after taking a 5-3 lead in the first. Vladi Eguia and Junmar Diarao do the pitching for the victors, while Bryan Castillo hits a two-run triple and shows off fine defense. Adriane Ros Bernardo scores three and Jennald Pareja drives in three. Sakai Phraechai leads Thailand with two runs.
- Laos 9, Cambodia 0. Soulapixa Khounchaleun and Yayua Wa combine on a four-hitter for Laos's first win. Yohan Xayaphone has two hits and two RBI for Laos, while Vuth Vanneng has two of Cambodia's four hits. Laos takes advantage of eight errors.
May 3[edit]
- Singapore 10, Thailand 0. Singapore blows out Thailand as Eleazar Jie Xian Ng throws a five-hitter. Ody Joo Shua Tay goes 4 for 4 with two runs and two RBI.
- Laos 13, Malaysia 1. Malaysia remains winless. Youtthasat Herpaoyang beats Sani Mlh Abdullah, both hurlers working a full game. Mung Chuevakham has three hits and four RBI.
- Philippines 8, Hong Kong 1. The two unbeaten teams face off and the Filipinos keep on rolling. Clarence Caasalan homers as the Philippines hand Hong Kong their first loss. Juan Paulo Macasaet, Raymond Nerosa and Kobe Torres do the mound work.
May 4[edit]
- Philippines 10, Hong Kong 2. The finale is a rematch of the prior day and the Philippines sweep to the title. It is Hong Kong's best finish yet in the event. Romeo Jasmin Jr. went seven innings (2 H, 1 R) for the win and took home the MVP. Ferdinand Liguayan's bases-loaded walk put the Philippines ahead for good. Mark Manaig has three hits and three RBI.
- Thailand 13, Singapore 0. The hosts settle for Bronze as Siraphop Nadee pitches a four-hitter to beat Jyoji Ito. Phoomwut Wutthikorn raps three hits.
