Biographical Information[edit]
Eleazar Jie Xian Ng has been on the Singapore national team.
He switched from softball to baseball in 2018. [1] He was with Singapore for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. [2] He joined Singapore's army in 2020. [3] In the 2023 East Asian Baseball Cup, he threw nine shutout innings - a complete game over Thailand after two relief innings against Hong Kong. He led the event in ERA but Soulapixa Khounchaleun was named the event's All-Star SP. [4]
In the 2022 Asian Games (held in 2023 after COVID-19-related delays), he was Singapore's captain. [5] He started Singapore's first baseball game in an Asian Games, facing Laos. He retired Bee Sengsoulin, gave up a single to Khounchaleun, walked Hue Thor and got Mong Lee to hit into a double play. Given a 2-0 lead in the second, he did not hold on. Lasting 5 1/3 IP, he gave up 3 hits, 9 walks and 7 runs (4 earned) while fanning three (his first K was Souksumlary Phonthamard); Ryota Wong relieved and Ng took the loss to Thor in a close 8-7 game, a solid debut for Singapore. The next day, he started again, going two innings in a loss to Thailand and Siraphop Nadee. He allowed two hits, three walks and four runs (all earned) while striking out three; Wong again took over and Ng replaced Wong in right field. He was retired by Nadee then left when Wong moved back from the mound to right field in the 7th. He was thus the only pitcher to start an Asian Games contest for Singapore at tourney's end. He tied Nadee for second in the Game in losses, one behind Mung Chuevakham. He was 6th in runs allowed (behind Nadee and Khounchaleun), 6th in earned runs allowed and tied Chuevakham for second in walks (3 behind Yayua Wa). He had worked almost half of Singapore's 15 innings - he covered 7 1/3, Wong did 7 and three other hurlers combined for the final 2/3! [6]
