Biographical Information[edit]
Chanatip Thongbai has been a pitcher for the Thai national team for over a decade. He appeared in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games (winning Silver), 2006 Asian Games, 2007 Asian Championship and 2007 Southeast Asian Games (winning Gold). He allowed 22 hits and 24 runs in 6 innings in the 2007 Baseball World Cup, taking losses against Canada and Venezuela. He was with Thailand for the 2010 Asian Games and 2011 Southeast Asian Games (Bronze Medal). In the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he was on the roster but did not play. He was Thailand's top pitcher in the 2014 Asian Games, with 2 2/3 shutout innings (1 H, 1 BB, 2 K) while appearing in all three of Thailand's contests.
In the 2018 East Asian Baseball Cup, the veteran hit .364/.529/.364, with 4 runs and 4 walks in 4 games, used solely as a position player. At the 2018 Asian Games, his fourth Asian Games, he was Thailand's oldest player. He batted .167/.286/.167 as a C/DH, splitting time with John Daru and pitched 2 2/3 shutout innings.
