Biographical Information[edit]

Jack Daru won Bronze with the Thai national team in the 2011 Southeast Asian Games. He was the catcher for Thailand in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He went 1 for 8 and played error-free ball while opponents stole 6 bases in 8 tries. His lone hit was a single off Jon-Jon Robles. His brother Joseph Daru was on the team as well. He was 0 for 6 in the 2014 Asian Games but managed to score three runs, including their only run against Taiwan. In the 2018 East Asian Baseball Cup, he excelled, hitting .500/.737/1.100 with two homers, nine walks, four RBI and six runs in four games. He was 2 for 2 with 3 walks, 2 runs and 2 RBI in a loss to the champion Philippines. He led the event in OBP, slugging, walks, homers (tied with Wing-Sing Li) and runs (tied with Jennald Pareja and Kin-Chung Tsang) and only three players had higher averages. He was left off the All-Star team for the event as Mark Manaig was picked at catcher.

He tormented Laos and Sri Lanka in the opening round of the 2018 Asian Games, going 5 for 6 with two walks, two doubles, two runs and six RBI. In that round, he tied Chayaphat Suanthong for the best average, tied Gniatou Nalor, Suanthong and Amila Pushpa Kumara Galbokka Hewage for the most hits, tied Galbokka for the most doubles, tied for second in slugging (behind Naruephol Muangkasem) and led in RBI (one ahead of Sahan Avishka Dias Gunasekara Gangoda Gamage) as Thailand advanced to round two. He hit .385/.529/.538 in that round, with 4 walks in 5 games. He was 5th in OBP and tied for third in walks (one behind Arsalan Jamashaid and Shoji Kitamura). On the other hand, he fielded .833, allowed 3 steals in 3 tries and led with two passed balls. He led Thailand in OBP and only his brother had a better average for the squad.
