Biographical Information[edit]
Ting Chuan Oscar Tay has been on the Singapore national team.
He was with them for the 2015 East Asian Baseball Cup; he and Kelvin Chia Zheng Kang had their lone hits against Thailand and he and Ryota Wong had their only hits versus Sri Lanka's Madumal Tharindu. [1] He was 2 for 10 with a double, run and RBI in the 2018 East Asian Baseball Cup. Against Indonesia, he drove in Wong with Singapore's only run of the game and just fourth of the tourney. [2] He appeared in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. [3]
Tay batted .176 with 3 runs and 5 RBI in five games in the 2023 East Asian Baseball Cup, with a 3-RBI day against Cambodia. [4] In their first Asian Games baseball appearance, he hit 5th and played center in their debut against Laos in the 2022 Asian Games (held in 2023 due to delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic). He drew a first-inning walk from Mung Chuevakham, then grounded out and singled off Hue Thor. After he was caught stealing, he was replaced by In Jae Baek and did not appear again, raising questions of whether he was injured on the play. [5]
