High School Baseball[edit]

The 29th National High School Baseball Championship featured a total of 1125 schools competing for 19 spots in the finals at Koshien. In the championship game Kokura High School (Fukuoka) defeated Gifu Shogyo High School (Gifu) by a score of 6 - 3.

The 19th National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament featured 26 schools competing in the tournament at Koshien. In the championship game Tokushima Shogyo High School (Tokushima) defeated Kokura High School (Fukuoka) by a score of 3 - 1.
