Before the 2015 season, the Mariners announced they were shutting down their academy in Venezuela in order to concentrate all of their player development activity for Latin America at their new base in the Dominican Republic. In 2015 the Mariners sponsored DSL Mariners 1 and DSL Mariners 2.
