Biographical Information[edit]
Austin Knight played college ball at Dallas Baptist University from 2007-2010. He split his playing time between shortstop and second base. He was not drafted by any pro team.
Following his playing days, Knight spent several years coaching at the college level. This phase included the 2011-2012 seasons as a Dallas Baptist volunteer assistant coach; 2013-2014 as a Texas A&M University Aggie volunteer assistant coach; and as an assistant coach for the 2015 Northeast Texas Community College Eagles. He was promoted to head coach of the Eagles in 2016. During this time Knight also served as an assistant coach for the 2011 La Crosse Loggers of the summer collegiate Northwoods League.
Knight joined the Seattle Mariners organization in 2017 as hitting coach for the Everett AquaSox. He briefly went back to Dallas Baptist as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2018 college season. After the college season ended, Knight returned to the Mariners in late June as a Modesto Nuts coach. In 2019, the Mariners promoted Knight to manager and he managed the DSL Mariners in 2019 (and was slated to do so in 2020 before that season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic). He then managed the ACL Mariners in 2021. Knight moved up another rung in 2022 when he managed the Modesto Nuts.
