Todd Carroll

Biopgraphical Information[edit]

Todd Carroll played college ball for the University of Massachusetts Boston and later was the Beacons' pitching coach from 2001-2003. He spent the next two years coaching pitchers at Salem Community College. Both of Carroll’s Salem pitching staffs finished the year with earned run averages under 4.00. Carroll then moved to Harvard University as an assistant coach for the 2006-2007 seasons. The year 2008 was a bit different. Carroll spent the year as an associate scout for the MLB Scouting Bureau. In addition, he accepted a head coaching position in June at the College of St. Joseph in Vermont. This job only lasted until early February 2009 when Carroll resigned suddenly and seemingly without explanation. One of the unusual aspects of Carroll's coaching career was that he coached both pitchers and catchers.

During this phase of his career, Carroll also was active coaching in summer collegiate wooden bat leagues.

In 2010, Carroll joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Engineers as their pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. He continued in these roles for 13 years. During his tenure, Engineer pitching staffs consistently ranked among the best in Division III. The 2013 & 2014 squads were especially successful, finishing among the top-20 in ERA, strikeout-to-walk ratio, WHIP, and walks allowed per nine innings. Carroll's work was rewarded when he was named the 2015 New England College Baseball Assistant Coach of the Year. The good pitching also contributed to team success -- MIT made 5 NCAA Baseball Tournament appearances in these years after a 37-year playoff absence.

The Seattle Mariners hired Carroll away from MIT in 2023 for their pitching coach position with the ACL Mariners. Carroll spent 2024 as a pitching coach for the DSL Mariners.
