Biographical Information[edit]

Jose Guillen has been a minor league infielder, manager and coach.

Guillen split 1992, his first US minor league season, between the AZL Athletics (10 for 41, 2B, 4 BB, 3 SB) and Reno Silver Sox (.216/.310/.216 in 28 G). In 1993, he hit .268/.370/.343 with 16 steals in 27 tries for the Madison Muskies. He fielded .964 as their main second baseman. The next summer, he was with both the Modesto A's (.262/.358/.341) and West Michigan Whitecaps (.225/.350/.284), with a combined 20 steals in 27 tries and 6 triples. He drew 60 walks but did not homer and he made 29 errors in the infield. Only Jason McDonald had more triples in the A's minors that year. In 1995, he wrapped up his playing career by batting .257/.323/.319 in 41 contests for Modesto.

Guillen coached in the New York Mets chain from 2004-2006 and in the Seattle Mariners system from 2007-2009. In 2010, he joined the DSL Padres as a coach. He managed them in 2011 then became a coach again in 2012-2014. He returned to the M's as coach of the DSL Mariners 2 in 2015 and DSL Mariners in 2016.
