History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 2024 Minnesota Twins started the season slowly, as they were just 6-12 on April 19th, but they turned things around before the end of the month. They won ten of their last eleven games in April, including the last nine in a row, to finish the month at 16-13. It was the team's longest winning streak since 2008. They won again on May 1st to make it ten in a row, but it was accompanied by an unfortunately too familiar sight: star outfielder Byron Buxton had to leave the game after pulling up lame on a stolen base attempt in the 2nd inning. It wasn't immediately clear whether the injury would lead to another prolonged absence, but he was placed on the injured list the next day. Nonetheless, they continued to win after that, the streak reaching 12 games on May 4th with a 3-1 win over the Boston Red Sox before ending the next day. Still, it was their longest since a team-record 15-game streak in June of 1991 - which was also coincidentally the last time they had won the World Series.
