Peter Maki

Biographical Information[edit]

Pete Maki pitched four years at Franklin & Marshall College and graduated in 2004. He earned the Diplomat's "Cy Young" award his senior year after serving as the team's closer.

Maki spent over a decade as a college pitching coach. He coached for the University of New Haven in 2006-2007, Columbia University in 2008-2015, and Duke University in 2016-2017.

The Minnesota Twins hired Maki as their minor league pitching coordinator in late 2017. He stayed in that role into the 2020 season. In late June the Twins named Maki their bullpen coach to replace Bob McClure due to COVID-19 concerns with the older McClure. McClure officially retired after the season, making Maki the official holder of the position in 2021. Maki remained the bullpen coach until the end of June, 2022. When Twins' pitching coach Wes Johnson announced he was leaving the Twins to become the Louisiana State University pitching coach, Maki was promoted to pitching coach. He was confirmed in this role in 2023.
